Children learn ordering, classification, one to one correspondence, measurement, patterns, operations, more than, less than, equal to, bigger, smaller and many more resulting from play and observation. Some of the math is learned through route, repetition and recall. For example; counting, months, days, home phone numbers, birthdays and emergency numbers. Teachers use manipulative and computers to enhance this learning experience. Our classrooms are equipped with simple counters, clocks, tan grams, blocks, dice, a sandbox, rulers, measuring cups, spoons, scales, thermometers, square tiles, connecting tubes, tape measures, fraction models, geo-boards and meter sticks. |
