As a result of our multi-faceted curriculum there is always opportunity for social and emotional development. Through the utilization of the different areas the children learn to adjust to new situations, recognize their own feelings, take responsibility for their own well-being, follow classroom routines, play well with other children, share and respect the rights of others and use critical thinking skills to resolve conflicts and solve problems.
We align areas of study with special events and Holidays from the calendar such as Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, Fire Prevention Week and Black History Month. They are celebrated in a respectful and developmentally appropriate way, exposing children to different customs. This is an opportune time to correlate with some of our Social Study lessons. Some of our greatest lessons are learned outside of our school environment when the group goes on field trips to The Hall of Science, museums, farms and aquariums.
We use several scientifically sound approaches to teaching and learning. We constantly evaluate ourselves, our staff and our students. We then use these evaluations to realize our motto "Excellence in Education".
